Horticulturist – Part-Time (Hybrid/Remote Eligible)

Job Description

West Coast Soil Works is seeking a part-time Horticulturist to support product quality, soil formulation, and horticultural expertise across our professional landscape and nursery product lines.

This flexible role works directly with the CEO and operations team to ensure our soil and mulch blends meet the highest standards for consistency and performance. The position can be performed hybrid or remotely 2–3 days per week after onboarding.

Responsibilities

– Evaluate and refine soil and mulch blends for performance and consistency.
– Provide horticultural input on raw materials, amendments, and product development.
– Support testing, documentation, and quality control processes.
– Advise on customer inquiries and technical specifications as needed.
– Collaborate with operations to maintain professional-grade standards.

Requirements

– Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Soil Science, Agronomy, or related field.
– 3–5 years of experience in soil management, growing media, or plant production.
– Strong technical understanding of soil composition and plant nutrition.
– Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with leadership.
– Based within driving distance of Arvin, CA preferred.
